Zuk Z2 is a solid Xiaomi Mi 5 competitor

Out to challenge the Xiaomi Mi 5 with matching features is the Zuk Z2 smartphone from Lenovo. This newly launched device comes with a Snapdragon 820 processor onboard, and delivers a number of other advanced traits at a price of just CNY 1800, which translates to around $273 or Rs 18300.

The Zuk Z2 has gone for a 5-inch 1080p full HD display that’s covered with 2.5D curved glass. It’s a dual SIM phone with 4G LTE (Cat. 6) support, and kicks in a USB Type-C port for charging and media transfers.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is one of the Z2’s main attributes. It moreover, even carries a fingerprint scanner on its Home button. The quad core Snapdragon 820 chipset inside this smartphone is accompanied by 4GB worth of RAM and 64GB worth of storage space. There’s no microSD support on it however.

Zuk has relied upon Samsung’s ISOCELL sensor for the camera on the back of the Z2. This is a 13MP shooter which supports phase detection autofocus, 4K videos, 960fps slow-motion videos and electronic image stabilization. On its front surface, the device houses an 8MP snapper for selfies and video calling.

The Zuk Z2 has only been aimed at China for the time being. It will be sold in the country from June 7 onwards, but its pre-orders have already begun. We’ll keep an eye out for news regarding its entry into other nations; so stay tuned.
