After failing to keep its promise of bringing the Nubia Z7 series to India last year, ZTE’s smartphone brand in question will finally be making its debut soon. And this is clearly evident by the country-specific website which recently went live.
ZTE devices aren’t new to India, but they aren’t available in abundance. The Nubia brand has basically been confined to China and is finally breaking free. The first devices to reach the new market will most likely be from the latest Z9 series.
AndroidOS is reporting based on information from ‘credible sources’ that the first handset will be the Nubia Z9 mini. This phone was launched back in March along with its larger Nubia Z9 Max sibling. It features a titanium frame to deliver a premium look and the rear panel has a patterned glass finish.
Additionally, ZTE has included some serious hardware into the smartphone. The phone packs a 5-inch 1080p display and has an octa core Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor doing the heavy lifting. Apart from these components, there’s also 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a microSD card slot and 4G LTE connectivity with dual SIM support.

The Nubia Z9 mini also comes with a 5MP camera on the front and a 16MP shooter on the rear. It offers Dolby 7.1 channel sound for a rich audio experience. By the looks of it, the handset will go up against the Mi 4i from Xiaomi and Asus’ Zenfone 2 series.
Key specs of the ZTE Nubia Z9 mini:
– Android Lollipop w/ Nubia UI 2.8
– 1.5GHz octa core Snapdragon 615 processor
– 5-inch 1920 x 1080p display
– 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 128GB expandable
– Dual SIM w/ 4G LTE
– 16MP rear and 8MP front Sony cameras
– 2900mAh battery
The ZTE Nubia Z9 mini carries a price tag of 1499 Yuan in China and based on this, it should go on sale in India at around Rs 16000.
