Various Chinese manufacturers including ZTE have a presence in the global market, but not all of their devices go on sale everywhere. Well, the OEM in question has finally decided to bring the Nubia Z5 into the US sans the ‘Z’ in the branding. The device will go on sale in the country along with the Grand S and both will be available unlocked.
The Chinese version of the Nubia 5 was announced back in December of 2012. The device also has a Mini variant which went official in July of this year. The handset is a high-end offering that deliver the same hardware found in most current flagships at a cheaper price. Being unlocked, the phone can be used with any GSM carrier including HSPA+ networks of AT&T and T-Mobile.
The Nubia 5 comes with a 5-inch display that proffers visuals in 1080p at 443ppi pixel density. The aluminum unibody design also sports a narrow bezel on the sides of the screen with glowing red custom fixed buttons below it, and a matte finish. On the inside, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz hard at work. Other components comprise of a 2300mAh battery, 16GB of ROM, 2GB of RAM and a 2MP front camera.
For avid photographers, the company has fixed a 13MP CMOS sensor from Sony on the rear which features a Konica-Minolta lens made from scratch-resistant sapphire and digital stabilization. Complementing the camera are 3 modes, namely Fun, Auto and Pro which deliver casual to professional photography experiences. The device also has a few enhancements for audiophiles through Digital Dolby Plus audio and the included ‘specially-designed’ earbuds.
The Nubia 5 will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow through Amazon and other retail channels. The device is priced at $449.99.
