Zopo’s ZP998 octa core phone goes up for pre-order in India as well

While Intex may have been the first to announce its plans to launch an octa core smartphone, Zopo is one step ahead of the Indian company. The Chinese manufacturer has unveiled its ZP998 to the masses and is also offering it for pre-order.

And what’s surprising here is that the Zopo ZP998 is already out of stock on the company’s global website, but if you’re in India and looking to snag a unit, the country-specific store has the device listed. The handset is loaded with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and you’ll be presented with a custom launcher which delivers various gesture based features. On paper, the handset looks quite alluring.

Doing the heavy lifting here are 8 Cortex A7 cores and a Mali-450MP4 GPU within the MTK MT6592 chipset. The CPU is clocked at 1.7GHz, while the graphics operate at 700MHz. On a side note, octa core processors are just the start. You can expect to find 64-bit chips in high-end smartphones as well as tablets next year. The international price for the Zopo ZP998 is $299.99, while Indian buyers can pick up the handset for Rs 24,000. Deliveries in India will commence from December 19.
