Xiaomi is expected to showcase a new global Mi smartphone next week and while we’re pretty sure that it’s going to be the Mi 4i aka Ferrari, there could be a second device unveiled at the event. A new phone with the codename H3Y has surfaced and it looks to be a upper mid-range release just like the former handset.
While the Mi 4i will be a variant of the original flagship handset, the newly leaked smartphone is apparently part of the Redmi series. And it could very well be the Redmi Note 2 handset which we’ve been anticipating for a couple of months now. Details on the device are quite scarce, but they do paint quite an elaborate picture.
Leakster @Upleaks has posted on Twitter that the Xiaomi smartphone will carry a full HD display of unknown size. Accompanying it on the front will be a 5MP OmniVision camera, while the rear will have a 13MP Samsung-made shooter. As for software, the company’s own MIUI 6 will be onboard based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The MediaTek MT6795 processor is also mentioned amongst the H3Y’s hardware, which is a 64-bit octa core chip capable of clock speeds of up to 2.2GHz. This is the same processor which has also been used in flagship releases such as the One M9+ and One E9+ from HTC.
Xiaomi H3Y specs roundup:
– Android 5.0 Lollipop (MIUI 6)
– Octa core MediaTek MT6795 processor (64-bit)
– 1920 x 1080 pixel display
– 13MP rear camera
– 5MP front shooter
It’s not confirmed whether or not the Xiaomi H3Y will make its debut next week. And we wouldn’t recommend you getting your hopes high of seeing it arrive anytime soon.
