Talk about unlikely players entering the smartphone game, and Pepsi will soon be seen topping that list. Yes, we’re talking about the same company that makes the dark soft drink we like to drown our food with. Its device will be called the P1, and will ship with quite unimpressive specs.
The point to note here is that Pepsi won’t be manufacturing it, as those duties will be handled by an unmentioned Chinese smartphone maker. The P1 though will come with the company’s logo on its back panel as well as a Pepsi-themed ROM pre-installed.
Mobipicker has revealed that this phone will be fitted with a 5.5-inch 1080p full HD display. Its operations will be powered by the combination of a 1.7GHz octa core MediaTek MT6592 processor and 2GB worth of RAM. The P1 will apparently ship with a 3000mAh battery inside it.
As for the camera setup on this Pepsi phone, the main unit will grab a 13MP sensor, whereas the front facing shooter will opt for a 5MP sensor. The last piece of known information about this device is that it will kick in 16GB of storage that’s most likely to be expandable.
Here’s a neat look at the leaked specs of the Pepsi P1:
– Display: 5.5-inch, 1080p full HD
– OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop-based custom ROM
– Processor: 1.7GHz octa core MediaTek MT6592
– Memory: 2GB RAM, 16GB storage (expandable)
– Cameras: 13MP rear, 5MP front
– Battery: 3000mAh
The Pepsi P1 will be launched in China later this month with a speculated price of CNY 1299 which approximately comes to about $205 or Rs 13300. We wonder if Coca Cola has already begun working on its own smartphone by now. We won’t be surprised to see it pop up in the coming months.
