Yahoo’s Aviate launcher for Android sheds beta tag, adds cool new features

You will no longer need an invitation if you want to experience the Yahoo Aviate Launcher, as the app has left its beta phase and landed on the Google Play store for all to download. Aimed at providing contextual information when you need it, this homescreen proffers a clean and organized layout for your apps, apart from granting relevant information throughout the day.

Firstly, this launcher automatically partitions your apps into categories based on their functions. Moreover, it populates your homescreen with those utilities which you are most likely to use at a particular time of the day or at a particular location. All this is done by it based on the information it grabs over a course of time.

Aviate was purchased by Yahoo in January and the technologies that are on offer through the search giant have helped its makers introduce a flurry of new additions to it. These include the ability to issue weather alerts if the forecast is different from that of the previous day and the facility to place conference calls in one tap.

The app itself compiles a list of Favorite contacts for you, and allows you to access it with a single swipe up, allowing you to either call or text them. Another new feature provides you with relevant apps and information when you’re going to sleep as well as when you wake up.
