Xolo’s A550s IPS looks gorgeous and only costs Rs 5799

Xolo has mostly been focusing on the mid-range market, but its latest handset, the A550s IPS, suggests that it still plans to cater to the entry-level with affordable devices. The new smartphone has showed up on the company’s website carrying a Rs 5799 price tag and decent specs.

While the hardware provisions are pretty decent for the said price, there is one disappointment with the Xolo A550s IPS. The handset comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean while the majority of other devices in the same price range (and even lower) offer version 4.4 KitKat. Nevertheless, the company has promised a guaranteed update to the latest firmware from Google sans any roll out date.

Specs-wise, it’s quite similar to the A500s Lite that offers a luxury design at an affordable price of Rs 5499. The latest smartphone is a looker as well. The rear panel features a white leather finish while the sides and the company’s logo on the rear flaunt a golden hue. The handset is 9.1mm thick, but there’s no word on how much it weighs.

Coming to the hardware, a 4-inch IPS WVGA display can be found on the front along with a VGA camera, while the rear dons a 5MP snapper with an LED flash. On the inside, a 1GHz dual core MediaTek processor delivers the steam, while memory needs are taken care of by 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM and a microSD card slot. Other features of the handset include Mali 400 graphics and a 1400mAh battery.
