Xiaomi’s super cheap smartphone shows up again to remind us of its existence

Reports of Xiaomi working on a super cheap smartphone have been around for many months now and while we’ve seen concrete evidence of its existence, a live image of the handset has also made its way online to suggest that an official launch could be nearing in. The new leak comes from an executive at China Mobile and looks to be the rear deal.

The executive has a top post at the network provider which adds to the legitimacy of the image. There’s no mention of Xiaomi or the handset’s name which is still unknown, but the post on Weibo does note that the phone will be releasing soon. As you can see in the image below, the device looks a lot like the Redmi 2.

And if you’re thinking that it could just be the aforementioned phone and not a new product, the latest Xiaomi Redmi 2 has been available through China Mobile for quite some time now, so why would an executive tease it online? What we know about this smartphone is that it will offer a 4.7-inch 720p HD display and dual cameras.
