There are multiple Chinese-based OEMs in India, but Xiaomi is one of most anticipated arrivals to the smartphone market. And while we’ve been waiting for the company to make its push into the country from the past few months, July 11 could be the day it finally does.
The Mi India Facebook page which carries Xiaomi’s official device brand name, recently posted a thank you message for all supporters. Accompanying the post was a small line which reads ‘do come back on 11 July 2014 for the announcement post.’ As far as we know, the only thing the company has to announce are its first devices which are rumored to go on sale in the country sometime mid-July.
So the 11th of this month could be the best time to officially announce their arrival. Also, the company will reportedly offer its devices through Flipkart, making them exclusive to the retailer. The first two phones will be the Redmi and Mi-3, both of which are highly affordable and offer a bang for every buck.
The Redmi is a hot seller in China and it caters to the mid-range offering the usual set of features such as a 4.7-inch HD display, a quad core processor, dual SIM support and more for just $139. Coming to the Mi-3, it’s a high-end phone powered by a Snapdragon 800 SOC with a 1080p display and other beefy components, priced at $327.
Xiaomi might also land up selling other products such as the MiPad tablet which is the first device to offer the Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset, but not at launch. We also anticipated seeing the company’s external battery range which offers powerbanks of up to 10400mAh.
