Xiaomi’s added yet another budget audio accessory to its roster after launching the Piston Fresh in-ear headphones just a few days ago. The newly-launched Mi Headphones appear to be a more affordable alternative to its predecessor.
While the original Mi Headphones set buyers back by CNY 499 (approx Rs 5000), the fresh iteration is lighter on the pocket thanks to a CNY 199 (about Rs 1940) price tag. The two are pretty different in terms of appearances, with the former going for a more expensive metal-rimmed look and the latter a minimalistic polycarbonate one.
The new Mi Headphones is available in orange, mint and white colors and has been crafted out of high-grade PU leather. The inside of the earmuffs is apparently made out of silicone. Both materials are apparently breathable and skin-friendly. The Mi Headphones further feature a closed sound chamber design that is meant to get rid of external noise and reduce pressure sensitivity.

In terms of specs, the Xiaomi device has a speaker impendence of 32 ohms and comes with Japan Hi-Res Audio standard certification. It’s also been blessed with damping material which is supposedly capable of absorbing internal acoustic waves on the diaphragm.
This apparently results in a drop in distortion and a more detailed audio output. Moreover, the Mi Headphones ship with an in-built microphone and controller. The product is currently only available in China. We’ll let you know as and when Xiaomi decided to bring the accessory to other markets.
