Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S smartphone has been off the shelves for quite a long time now, though it will soon be made available for purchase once again. And this time, it will not be Flipkart selling the handset as the company has formed a partnership with Overcart which specializes in offering unboxed and refurbished products.
That being said, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S will not be completely new as you’ll be either be able to pick up a refurbished unit for Rs 4599 or an unboxed model at Rs 4999. These prices are much lower compared to the Rs 5999 retail tag for the sealed and packed version from Flipkart, and you can expect perfectly functioning devices.
The refurbished units are like new phones repaired to full functionality, while the unboxed models are basically unused, although their original packaging has been opened. Xiaomi already offered the handset in question through this method back in January as a test run and this is the second sale it will be holding.
No date as to when the sale will commence has been provided; but you can register for it through the Overcart website. And if you’re looking to buy a brand new Redmi 1S, you’re better off waiting for the Redmi 2 which will be made available from next week.
Here are the main Xiaomi Redmi 1S specs:
– OS: Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
– Display: 4.7-inch 720p HD panel
– Processor: 1.6GHz quad core Snapdragon 400
– Camera: 1.6MP front, 8MP rear
– Memory: 1GB RAM, 8GB storage
– Battery: 2000mAh
Xiaomi’s approach of selling refurbished and unboxed units is currently limited to the Redmi 1S, but we could see more devices added to the list in the future.
