Xiaomi’s officially announced the release of the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM for over 30 of its devices around the world. The rollout has begun for a number of handsets and will eventually hit more in April. The company is requesting users to be patient as it’s working to beam out the upgrade to as many people as possible.
The first batch will receive the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM in late March gradually. This includes the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm/Redmi Note 4X, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Redmi 3S, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 4A, and Redmi Note 4 MTK.
A couple of posters on the MIUI forums have pointed out that the first round consists of Xiaomi’s budget devices rather than flagships like the Mi 6 and Mi Mix 2. This is fairly unusual since manufactures typically go in the opposite direction.
In any case, owners of the Mi 6 and Mi Mix 2 will have to wait until early April to get a taste of the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM. Other devices in the list include the Redmi Note 5A Prime/Redmi Y1, Redmi Note 5A/Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5, Redmi 5, Mi Max 2, Mi 5, and Redmi 4X.
The last and final batch will get a dose of MIUI 9.5 in the middle of April. This list consists of the Mi Note 2, Mi 5s, Mi MIX, Mi Note 3, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi Note 2, Redmi 3, Redmi 4, Mi 3, and Mi 4.
MIUI 9.5 is built on the foundations of Android 7.0 Nougat. It brings the widely-criticized notifications UI in MIUI in-line with stock Android, among various other changes.
