The Xiaomi Redmi 2 has been around for quite long now, and it’s about time it receives a price cut. A teaser from the company seems to be to be hinting that the drop will happen tomorrow, but there’s also the possibility that the Chinese brand will skip doing that and unveil the Redmi 2A instead.
Both the possibilities are open as of now, and the confirmation it seems will only come tomorrow. An image released by Xiaomi’s Redmi India Twitter account is suggesting the retail value Rs 5999. Since the Redmi 2 is currently being sold at Rs 6999, this will be a Rs 1000 drop in its asking amount.
If in any case, the Redmi 2A is launched, it will become a cheaper cousin of the aforementioned device, with the only major difference between the two being in the processor department. The 2A model goes for a quad core Leadcore L1860C chipset instead of the main variant’s Snapdragon 410 processor.
Xiaomi has said that this new announcement will be taking place at 10am on July 10 which is tomorrow. The tweet in question has also mentioned the company’s Mi.com portal, which means the new price cut or the new device won’t be debuting on the Chinese brand’s favorite e-commerce website, Flipkart.
