They say it’s better late than never, and this statement is pretty applicable for the MIUI 6 update on the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, which has taken ages to arrive. However, it’s here now, and reportedly being rolled out to handsets in the manufacturer’s home country, China.
This also means that models of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S in other nations will be receiving the newly built Android-based ROM soon. Gizmo China is reporting that more devices from the company are currently scheduled to receive MIUI 6 in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
First introduced in August last year, this software version is currently being seeded to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G in India. Apart from beefed up security features, it also brings forth a host of visual changes to make things more user friendly.
The Redmi 1S is known for its mid-range specs that are offered at an ultra-affordable price tag. It comes equipped with a 4.7-inch 720p HD monitor and a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. This phone houses 1GB worth of RAM and 8GB worth of storage space which can be expanded further up to 64GB. An 8MP rear camera and a 1.6MP front snapper are two of its other highlights.
