The Mi Mix 3 has been a hot topic of discussion these past few weeks, with many reports claiming that the handset is going to cut bezels to an all-new extreme. Here to offer some proof of this and a launch date is a new image leaked by AndroidPure.
The photo appears to be an official promotional poster for the Mi Mix 3. It only shows the bottom half of the device, but that’s enough to see there’s probably going to be very little chin on the smartphone. This is in contrast to the original Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2, both of which featured a prominent chin and a selfie camera at the bottom-right corner.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Design
There’s clearly no front-facing snapper in the image above. Some say the lens has been shifted right to the top of the Xiaomi phone. It apparently lives inside a slide-out mechanism now, just like the Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X. This will allow the device to maintain a truly border-free look.
That’s pretty much been the aim of the Mi Mix series from the very beginning. It’s only now that technology has caught up and made more interesting possibilities a reality. The Mi Mix 2 has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3%, so the upcoming sequel should have that beat.
As per the poster, the Mi Mix 3 is going to be launched on September 15. The phone’s predecessor also arrived in September, so the date makes sense. However, it can’t be taken as certain since it’s possible the image is fake. It’s easy enough to make a false teaser image nowadays, so it would be best to wait and see when Xiaomi itself announces the date.
Xiaomi did provide a clue about the Mi Mix 3’s design recently. Two outlines of a mysterious smartphone with an AI button and very little bezel were spotted recently in the MIUI 10 beta. The company promptly deleted the sketches, but they stuck around long enough for some people to notice and speculate.
