Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3 is coming on October 25 and the company has decided to confirm two major features ahead of its launch. Not only will the bezel-less phone have 10GB of RAM, it’ll also be one of the first to support 5G networks.
The 5G support isn’t a massive surprise since Xiaomi had shown off a hands-on image of the Mi Mix 3 back in September this year in front of a 5G testing station. The company had also talked about how it had successfully tested 5G data connections on its smartphones and claimed 5G speeds are 10x faster than 4G speeds.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G Support
Xiaomi recently teased the device’s 5G technology via its Spanish Facebook page. Unfortunately, it seems the poster was taken down by the brand. The image highlights the handset’s full-screen design, curved corners, and slide-out camera.
As for the other major reveal, Xiaomi uploaded another poster with a similar outline on Weibo. The post touts that the Mi Mix 3 will be carrying 10GB of RAM. This sounds a bit excessive, but perhaps it has a good reason for stuffing that much RAM into its phone.
It wasn’t that long ago that 8GB of RAM sounded like it was too much and now most flagship Android phones have an 8GB variant to attract consumers. After all, Xiaomi needs something unique to set its device apart now that rivals like the Oppo Find X have the same all-screen look and sliding camera.
Rumor has it that the Mi Mix 3 will have a manual camera slider and not an automatic one like the Oppo offering. GSMArena thinks it might utilize Qualcomm’s X24 or X50 5G modem to connect to the network since the Snapdragon 845 processor doesn’t support 5G.
