Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Mi Note 3, Mi Notebook Pro go official

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

Xiaomi has officially taken the covers off the Mi Mix 2, Mi Note 3, and Mi Notebook Pro. The last is a bit of a surprise, but the previous two have been in the spotlight for a while now.

The Mi Mix 2 is clearly the star of the show, featuring a 12% smaller chin and more compact 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, unlike the 6.4-inch 17:9 screen of the original. The old cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology has been abandoned in favor of a sound guided 50W high power speaker design that’s still invisible.

Photography-wise, Xiaomi has once again placed the 5MP selfie snapper at the bottom right, so users will just have to get used to that. The single 12MP rear camera is the same as the Mi 6’s primary shooter, bringing with it a Sony IMX386 sensor, 4-axis OIS, and 1.25um large pixels.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 specifications:

– Display: 5.99-inch, 1080 x 2160 pixels

– Storage: 64GB/128GB/256GB
– RAM: 6GB/8GB

The standard Mi Mix 2 starts at CNY 3299 (roughly Rs 32230) for the 6GB/64GB option, moves up to CNY 3599 (approx Rs 35170) for the 6GB/128GB iteration, and finally ends at CNY 3999 (about Rs 39070) for the 6GB/256GB one. There’s also a Special Edition model which boasts of a ceramic unibody and kicks things up a notch to CNY 4699 (around Rs 45910) for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM.

As for the Mi Note 3, the brand aptly describes it as a Mi 6 with a larger 5.5-inch screen. The design looks almost the same, right down to the 4-sided curved glass body, aluminum frame, and 12MP 2x optical zoom dual cameras. Its 16MP front-facing shooter comes with a new Adaptable AI Beautify tool that promises to deliver realistic beauty effects without affecting quality.

The Mi Note 3 is more of a mid-ranger in a premium phone’s body since it runs on a less powerful Snapdragon 660 processor. It’s got a bigger 3500mAh battery though. The handset will set buyers back by CNY 2499 (roughly Rs 24420), CNY 2899 (around Rs 28330), and CNY 2999 (approx Rs 29300) for the 6GB/64GB (Black), 6GB/128GB (Black), and 6GB/128GB (Blue) models, respectively.

Finally, the Mi Notebook Pro looks similar to its predecessors on the outside, once again competing with Apple’s MacBook series. On the inside, it’s gotten hold of the latest 8th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 chips for 40% better performance. The cooling system has been overhauled to make it symmetrical, packing 2 fans to heat the SoC and GPU.

Specs include a 15.6-inch 1080p narrow-bezel display, 256GB of SSD memory, an Nvidia GeForce MX150 GPU, a full-size backlit keyboard which is more spaced out than the MacBook Pro’s, Harman Infinity speakers, 2 USB-C ports, and 2 USB 3.0 slots. Xiaomi’s priced the i5 version at CNY 5600 (about Rs 54720) and the i7 one at CNY 6400 (around Rs 62530).

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 will be making its way to India soon. We’ll let you know the moment it begins teasing the handset’s export out of China.
