The launch of the Xiaomi Mi Max and Mi Band 2 is only a week away now, but that hasn’t stopped a fresh set of leaks from emerging. Images of the two have been posted online through intrepid users on Weibo showing off the first clear look at the offerings.
Kicking things off with the Xiaomi Mi Max, the new photo of the phablet surprisingly does not fall in line with previous leaks which had alleged that the phone would resemble a super-sized version of the Mi 5, complete with a physical home button. Instead, the latest snap gives off a Mi Note vibe thanks to its 3 capacitive buttons and sleek metal frame.
It’s difficult to tell from the angle of the shot whether the Mi Max really does measure 6.4-inch as earlier rumors had predicted. If it does sport a fingerprint scanner, it’ll likely be located on the rear surface of the handset. Speculation so far has suggested that the handset will feature specs like a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor, Android Marshmallow, 16MP rear camera, 16GB of ROM, and 2GB of RAM.
Moving on to the Mi Band 2, the live image of the wearable matches up with earlier hints regarding its features. While the simple silicon band design appears to be the same as the previous generation, there’s a proper display this time round. It’s a major update, considering its predecessor had just featured 3 LED lights for notifications and depended heavily on the user’s smartphone to relay information.
The Xiaomi device can be seen displaying the time and battery level. It’s expected to additionally inform users about things like their fitness goals and stats without forcing them to consult the Mi Fit app. The wearable is expected to be priced at CNY 99 (roughly $16 or Rs 1014).
Stay tuned for more on the Xiaomi Mi Max and Mi Band 2 when the two are launched officially on May 10.
