Xiaomi has announced a global event taking place in Madrid on July 24 where it’s planning to release a new device on an international scale. Some say the Mi A2 will probably be the star of the occasion, while others think the Mi 8 might be the centerpiece of the show.
The Mi A2 has a higher chance of going global what with the flood of leaks that have been pouring out over the past few weeks. The handset is expected to be a rebranded version of the Mi 6X which came out in China a few months ago. The main change will likely be the shift to Android One, allowing it to get 2 years of OS updates and run a stock version of Android.
Xiaomi Mi Explorers Contest
Interestingly enough, the Mi A2 popped up on a Spanish duo’s YouTube channel a couple of weeks ago. The phone later appeared on a Swiss retailer’s site. It’s clear the brand has big plans for the phone in Europe, which is likely why it’s holding the launch in Madrid.
Anyone who wants to attend the event can do so for free by participating in Xiaomi’s Mi Explorers program. The company’s taking 20 people from all over the world for the trip. It’ll take entries till July 1. The lucky few will take off on July 23 and return on July 26.
To begin with, interested participants will have to register here. They then have to answer at least 18 questions out of 20 in a Mi Fan quiz to prove their Xiaomi knowledge. The condition here is that the quiz will have to be completed in under 5 minutes.
The winning candidates will get an email from Xiaomi before July 2. They’ll get the new device once they reach Spain to try it out before the July 24 event.
