A pair of Weibo-sourced leaks has revealed potential Xiaomi Mi 8 specs. One features a hands-on look at the handset’s retail box and the other is a poster.
The box doesn’t feature a ton of Xiaomi Mi 8 specs, but it’s nice to establish a few key ones before the smartphone’s May 31 launch. The handset might get its hands on a Snapdragon 845 processor, 64GB of ROM, and 6GB of RAM.
Interestingly enough, there’s something called dual-GPS mode listed on the box and in the poster. We’re not sure what exactly that entails, but it must be pretty important if Xiaomi’s advertising it so heavily. Other possible features include a 20MP rear AI camera and no 3.5mm headphone jack.
The second will come as a blow to fans of the port, but it’s not entirely a surprise. Even the Mi 6 didn’t have one. The good news is that Xiaomi is seemingly providing for a USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio adapter, along with a USB Type-C cable.
Possible Xiaomi Mi 8 Specs
As for the poster, it verifies the Mi 8’s notch-heavy design, bezel-free screen, dual vertical cameras, and blue color variant. There’s also some chatter about 3D infrared face scanning. This sounds similar to the iPhone X’s Face ID. Sadly, neither leak mentions anything about an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Xiaomi recently confirmed the Mi Band 3’s May 31 launch via a post on Weibo. Meanwhile, GizChina reported that the Mi Note 5 may also make an appearance. Promotional materials indicate that it’ll sport a 5.99-inch Full Screen 2.0 display, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of ROM, and 4GB of RAM.
Prices may begin at CNY 2299 (approx Rs 24160). Xiaomi’s first wireless charging dock and in-house Surge S2 chipset could also make an appearance at the event.
