The mystery surrounding the exact time frame during which the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be unveiled just refuses to die down. The massive delay in its release has occurred due to the company’s insistence on equipping it with the Snapdragon 820 chipset which is still to be fully launched by Qualcomm.
It is now being said that December 3 could very well be the date on which the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be unveiled to the world. But that means the Snapdragon 820 SoC should be showcased by Qualcomm prior to that date. November 20 is apparently the date on which that will be happening.
While the makers of this super-powered processing unit have been revealing information about it in a bit by bit manner over the past few months, they are still to give it an official unveiling. Rumor has it that it’s at the insistence of companies like Samsung and Xiaomi that Qualcomm will be launching the SoC prior to its planned 2016 release.
News about the Mi 5 has come this time from well-known Chinese tipster Leaksfly’s Weibo account (via Phone Arena). This smartphone is an extremely anticipated one by fans of the company, since its previous flagship was launch more than a year ago.
We have learned through previous leaks that Xiaomi will be blessing it with a 5.2-inch Quad HD monitor and 4GB worth of RAM, apart from the above mentioned processor setup of course. An advanced 16MP main camera will also form part of its offerings, reportedly.
Let us now cool our heels until November 20 to see if the Snapdragon 820 is indeed launch on the said date. If that goes according to the leaked information, chances are high that the Xiaomi Mi 5 too will adhere to the December 3 launch date.
