It’s been more than a year since the launch of its predecessor; so the Xiaomi Mi 5 really does need to come out soon. There has been a lot of talk about its arrival time in the past few weeks, which has made things a bit confusing. However, some clearance is now being offered by a well known Chinese industry analyst named Pan Jiutang.
He has said that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be released in December itself. But this contradicts reports that it will carry the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset inside it, as this SoC won’t be launched prior to 2016.
Jiutang has an answer for that as well. According to Phone Arena, he has mentioned that Qualcomm will get enough units of the chipset ready for them to be shipped to Xiaomi so that it can incorporate them into its new flagship. This means that the handset in question will be the first in the world to come equipped with this high-end assembly.
Snapdragon 820 will bring with it a 64-bit quad core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. Along with this information, a new set of leaks regarding the specifications of the Mi 5 has also surfaced via a Chinese leakster named Leaksfly.
This phone is expected to carry onboard a 5.2-inch 1080p display; again giving the Quad HD standard a miss. It is believed to come with 4GB worth of RAM and a 32 or 64GB of storage. The camera setup on this guy may include a 16MP rear unit and an 8MP front one.
These are all the firm details about the Xiaomi Mi 5 that we have right now. We’ll make sure to find new ones about it; so stay tuned.
