There’s a brand new leak of the Xiaomi Mi 5 doing the rounds on the web, this time showing off the handset’s full-metal build. While images of the handset have surfaced online before, they’re usually of a glass-encased unit in various colors.
To recall, earlier rumors had suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be sold in two versions. The more premium one is set to sport a metal unibody design and a QHD screen. The other may be enclosed within a metal frame, 2.5D curved glass on the front and back and feature a full HD display.
The new pictures which have been uncovered by G For Games appear to be of the higher-end variant. Unfortunately, the live photos only feature the rear surface of the Xiaomi phone. The fingerprint scanner appears to be placed beneath the camera unit. This is a departure from previous leaks which had claimed that the smartphone’s sensor would be embedded within the home button.
A quick round-up of the rumored specs of the Xiaomi Mi 5:
– OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop-based MIUI 7
– Display: 5.2-inch, QHD/FHD
– Battery: 3600mAh
– Processor: quad-core Snapdragon 820
– GPU: Adreno 530
– Storage: 32GB/64GB
– RAM: 3GB/4GB
– Cameras: 16MP rear, 13MP front
There appears to be a laser autofocus unit on the left of the lens and a dual-color LED component on the right. The Xiaomi logo can be spotted at the lower end of the handset. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and a USB Type-C port at the bottom.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 could be coming out on February 20 and begin vending the next day, according to earlier reports. We’ll keep you updated regarding the price and availability details of the phone till then.
