The arrival of the Xiaomi Mi 5 has been getting delayed since a long time, and there have been several speculated reasons for this. But it seems October 15 could finally be the date on which we’ll be seeing the much anticipated device for the first time.
That’s because an event for the said date has been announced by the Chinese company. It has sent press invites to this gathering already, but has of course not mentioned the exact device that will be the star of the show. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the first guess, as it’s high time the company launched a successor to its flagship device.
It has been reported that that the upcoming handset has been getting delayed owing to the fact that its makers have decided to incorporate the unreleased Snapdragon 820 chipset into it. The latest this SoC will be ready for mass shipping is December, so the Mi 5 has either decided to abandon this chipset or we’ll be seeing another device being unveiled completely.
As Gizmo China points out, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 was supposed to be unveiled in Q3 of this year. That period has been missed by the tablet, but the company might have reserved the October 19 event for its showcasing. This would mean we’ll still have to cool our heels until December at least in order to catch our first glimpse of the new Mi 5 smartphone.
Things are pretty vague at the moment, but what’s sure is that a new Xiaomi device will be unveiled on October 15. Let us now wait until the said date to know grab some more details about it.
