As always, Xiaomi has managed to produce an impressive smartphone through the Mi 4i which was officially launched in India at the global premier event. The handset is an upper mid-range option and is priced at just Rs 12999.
It’s clear from the name that the smartphone is a variant of the original Mi 4, but the company has done a lot of modifications to bring down the retail tag. The Xiaomi Mi 4i continues to offer great hardware, while the design is less premium as polycarbonate replaces the much-loved metal body. The phone basically looks like a smaller Mi Pad with attractive colors.
The move looks a lot similar to what Apple did a couple of years back. You could say that the new Xiaomi phone is to the Mi 4 what the iPhone 5C is to the 5S. The Chinese giant has retained the same 5-inch full HD display on this smartphone with slim bezels on the sides and Corning OGS glass for protection. But instead of a Snapdragon 801 processor, you get a slower octa core Snapdragon 615 chipset clocked at 1.7GHz.
The rear camera continues to be a 13MP shooter, while the front snapper is rated at 5MP. Xioami has also added great connectivity features as the Mi 4i comes with dual SIM 4G support, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1. Also, there’s a pretty large 3120mAh battery onboard.
Here’s a roundup of the main Xiaomi Mi 4i specs:
