Xiaomi is currently in the midst of hyping up the arrival of the Mi Mix 2 via its social media channels in China. Its CEO Lin Bin recently revealed a couple of interesting tidbits about the September 11 event where the phone will be making its debut, hinting that more than one handset might be announced.
Bin took to Weibo to release a promo video for the Mi Mix 2 and tease that another device would be shown off on September 11 in addition to the bezel-free one. He didn’t offer any hints as to what it could be, but the most obvious answer is the Mi Note 3. That’s because the previous Mi Note 2 was launched last year alongside the original Mi Mix.
Xiaomi’s not above pulling off major surprises though, so perhaps we’ll see the unveiling of the Redmi Note 5 we’ve been hearing so much about. Bin’s post also talks a bit about the Mi Mix 2, confirming that it’ll be getting version 2.0 of its predecessor’s full-screen display and Face Unlock.

The first will probably entail a higher screen-to-body ratio thanks to narrower bezels all around. This is necessary given the sudden rise in borderless phone in the year since the Mi Mix came out. The second has been hinted at before, with reports claiming that the brand will use 3D facial recognition technology.
As for the Mi Note 3, it may be switching to a Samsung-made 5.46-inch 1080p OLED panel, 6GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 660 processor, dual cameras, a 16MP selfie shooter, and 64GB of ROM. We’ll let you know what Xiaomi decides to bring out into the world come September 11.
