Xiaomi which is also known as China’s Apple, already excels in offering high-quality devices at low prices, which is why it’s not that big a surprise that we’re hearing about a 500 Yuan smartphone which could be unveiled by the company in the near future. For better understanding, let us translate that number for you.
500 Yuan gets converted into around $80 or Rs 5000. Yes, those are the unbelievable amounts you’ll apparently be able to buy an upcoming Xiaomi phone at. We don’t yet know about the kind of the specs this device is expected to pack inside it, but we do know that it’s going to sell like crazy once it’s out, just like other handsets from the company.
According to GizChina, Taiwan-based supply chains are reporting at the moment that Xiaomi is working with BOE Technology in order to craft an affordable display that will form part of an upcoming handset. They are also saying that this device will have its cost set at an amount that’s considerably less than what the current Mi flagships and even cheaper Redmi smartphones are being sold at.
Recently, we had witnessed a smartphone believed to be a successor to the Redmi 1S which features 4G LTE support and a 64-bit processor. There is a slight possibility of this device being the rumored 500 Yuan smartphone, but it has already been certified by TENAA which means it’s quite ready for a launch now.
As opposed to that, the new handset from Xiaomi is currently in its early stages as talks about its display are still going on. We’ll have more on the matter when we have additional details to reveal.
