WhatsApp’s been working on adding a new Stickers feature to its Android, iOS, and Windows Phone apps for months and months. You won’t have to wait too long to check them out officially though, since the company has finally started rolling them out to everyone.
WhatsApp Android/iOS Stickers
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for iPhone version 2.1800 and WhatsApp for Android version 2.18.329 are both receiving Stickers remotely. The brand is moving very slowly, so they might not show up immediately even if your handset is up-to-date. You can try backing up your data and then reinstalling the app if you can’t wait to try them.
WhatsApp has kept 12 sticker packs ready for iOS and Android including Cuppy, Salty, Biscuit, Hatch, Banana, Fearless and Fabulous, Bibimbap Friends, Komo, Unchi & Rollie, and Shiba Inu. They’re all static, but animated ones should arrive in the future, as well as support for Windows Phone.
Making things official is a new FAQ page (Android/iOS) for the stickers. Android users will have to tap on Emoji in the text input field followed by the sticker icon, while iPhone users can directly tap on the sticker icon within the keyboard. Adding sticker packs is just a matter of tapping on the plus button.
There are various little bells and whistles inside Stickers. For instance, WhatsApp has categorized them according to specific traits. If you tap the heart box icon, this will trigger open a set of sticker category icons. These stickers are shuffled as per the emoji displayed on the icons, so tapping on the heart will show you stickers containing hearts.
If stickers are enabled in your phone, they’ll appear in WhatsApp Web as well. The firm’s also taken some time out to add a new GIF search option in its iOS app. You won’t have to go to your Photo & Video Library to find them. Instead, the option to search will be available right inside the chat. This saves you a lot of time, which you can spend sending stickers.
