WhatsApp’s Android beta has gotten hold of a nifty little feature which lets users pin chats to the top. Up to 3 conversations can be prominently featured, refusing to budge even when more chats pour in.
The feature is a small step towards helping people keep WhatsApp more organized. Conversations are currently ordered according to how recent they are, with the latest ones on top. The window can get very crowded with one-and-one and group chats, burying more important ones to the bottom or randomly in the middle.
Individuals have had no option but to use workarounds like adding a chat shortcut to their home screen or constantly archiving/deleting less essential chats in order to keep the frequent ones front-and-center. WhatsApp’s latest Android beta does away with the inconvenience by adding a new pin icon to the action bar.

The choice pops up next to the pre-existing delete, mute and archive options after a user taps and holds any conversation. As mentioned above, only 3 chats can be pinned at a time, so they’ll have to pick and choose the main ones.
Other than adding pins to WhatsApp, the company recently introduced a couple of useful new tools to its beta testing ground. One is called Change Number and the other Live Location. As can be guessed by their names, the first helps ease the transition when switching to a new number and the second lets people share their current position in real-time.
