WhatsApp has just added a couple of nifty tools to the iOS version of its app, rolling out the changes as part of version 2.18.30 a few days ago. One allows you to add time and location stickers to photos or videos, while the other lets you search for people in a group.
Neither addition appears to be live for WhatsApp for Android or WhatsApp for Windows Phone yet, but it’s only a matter of time before the features eventually roll out to everyone. For now, if you’re on version 2.18.30 of WhatsApp for iPhone, you can start adding the time and location to images before you share them.
Rival apps like Snapchat and Instagram already offer these stickers, so WhatsApp’s essentially catching up with the competition here. It’s keeping things fairly simple for the initial rollout. There’s a round clock sticker, digital time sticker, and location sticker.
To get started, you’ll have to tap on the ‘+’ icon in a chat window and select either Camera or Photo and Video Library. Once your photo or video is in the editing window, select the smiley icon from the topmost row of options. The stickers will appear first, followed by smileys and people.
You can place all 3 stickers in a single image. Tapping on any of them will switch their color from white to black. If you’re unsatisfied with the look, just drag the stickers to any corner and they’ll disappear in a puff of smoke.
WhatsApp for iOS version 2.18.30 also includes the ability to open up the Group Info section and search for any member. Just scroll down to the participants list and you’ll see a Search option to the right. This is a small change, but could prove pretty useful when you’re on the hunt for someone and don’t want to go through a long list of people.
You can download WhatsApp for iPhone via the App Store.
