Services like Skype and Viber are all set to receive a huge blow, even as the makers of WhatsApp have decided to add video calling support to it. The latest beta version of the Android app has been blessed with this option now, though a video call cannot be actually placed due to the feature not having been activated from he company’s end.
Despite this, it is now clear that the rumors were true, and WhatsApp will be receiving video calling support in the coming days. We’re guessing the iOS version of this app too will be get the feature soon, but as for the Windows Phone app it might take some time as usual.
The WhatsApp beta update with the number 2.16.80 is the one that is offering the video calling option. You can grab this download from APK Mirror right now, or if you happen to be a registered beta tester, just wait for your device to grab it automatically.

Once updated, the call button inside every chat will double up as video call button. Earlier, pressing on it would place a voice call to the concerned person, but now it will show you options for placing a voice or a video call via WhatsApp.
Once you choose the latter though, a ‘Couldn’t place call’ prompt appears, telling you that this new feature is unavailable at this moment. Perhaps some last minute changes are being made it to before it goes official.
