WhatsApp for Android update revamps Settings page

WhatsApp Settings Update

WhatsApp for Android users have been greeted with quite a lot of upheaval recently, from document sharing to a new Link history tab. It looks like the app isn’t done pushing out changes yet, with the latest beta version introducing an all-new Settings page.

WhatsApp hasn’t really disturbed the layout of the Settings page over the past few years. Version 2.12.511 of the application changes this status quo by bringing in a spaced-out layout and green icons which are easy on the eyes. Profile settings are now right at the top with a round profile picture, name and status to make sure it’s more prominent.

While Profile has been given a promotion by WhatsApp, Help has been given a name change to About and help and pushed towards the bottom of the list. As per Android Police, even Chats and calls has been shortened to just Chats because the call settings have found a new home. Finally, Data Usage is now a big enough hitter to find a place among the main menu options.

Delving deeper into WhatsApp’s sub-level settings, users will find the Profile page now displays a round profile picture instead of the old square one and their phone number resides next to their status. Venturing over to the Account page will see them discover that the Payment info option has disappeared, a sensible decision now that the app is free.

The new Data Usage page showcases all data-related settings such as the total network usage, media auto-download selections for Wi-Fi and mobile data, and call settings to enable low data usage. You can check out all the changes in WhatsApp version 2.12.511 by downloading it via APK Mirror.
