WhatsApp Windows Beta

WhatsApp for Windows has gotten an interesting new update which adds some useful new features to the chat app. The changes appear in version number 2.17.86 of the tool, currently only accessible by people who have signed up for the company’s beta program.

The WhatsApp for Windows beta changelog describes how users can now click on individual chats to see more detailed information such as the number of texts, photos, and GIFs exchanged. The page also showcases how much space each division has eaten up.

There’s also a new Size tab that features the same information but sorted according to the weight of the images or videos and not number. This is probably meant to serve as a way to highlight conversations with a lot of media and perhaps make it easier for users to get more space quickly.

WhatsApp for iPhone recently got its own storage usage screen revamped. The previous interface’s usefulness was limited to listing things like texts, GIFs, images, and videos in a specific chat and displaying how much space they were hogging.

WhatsApp now lets iOS patrons edit each section so that they can pick and choose what to get rid of, creating room in the process. The new option can be explored by heading to Settings, Data and Storage Usage, Storage Usage, selecting a contact, and tapping on Clear Chat.

You can download the WhatsApp for Windows beta here. Once updated, you’ll have to go to Settings, followed by Chats and Calls, and finally Storage Information to check out the new features.
