Google’s Waze has been update with a nice bunch of new features that seek to make it more social than it was before. The ability to add friends via contacts is one of them, and this opens up many different traits you can take advantage of in both the Android as well as iOS versions of the fun navigation app.
Just like WhatsApp, the new version of Waze allows you to view all your contacts who are using the same app. You can hence send them friend requests to facilitate deeper social integration of the app. And then there’s the new Send Location attribute which allows you to easily notify your friends about where you are.
Accessible through the menu screen, it lets you send the address of your current location, destination, home or work to multiple Waze friends. And that’s not all; the developers have also garnished this new addition with History and Favorites sections for added convenience.
The app has received another cool feature which makes sharing your drive easier than before. Each time you’re about to begin your ride, you can select one or more contacts to share it with. They will then receive real-time access to your location until you reach the destination.
Aside from all this, there are of course some fixes and optimization that form part of the newly released version 3.8 of Waze. Those who already have the app installed on their devices should receive a notification to download the update soon. Those who haven’t yet tried it can head over to the Google Play store or the Apple App Store to grab it now.
