Vivo’s officially outed the V5 in India, hoping to conquer the mid-range market sector with a Rs 17980 phone. It also took some time out to tease the V5 Plus variant of the smartphone.
As expected, the main highlight of the Vivo V5 is its one-of-a-kind 20MP selfie camera enhanced with a Moonlight Glow feature. Unlike standard hard flash units, the brand’s lighting solution emits a softer beam of light. The company claims the results are superior to other front-facing cameras and helps take more well-balanced shots in the dark.
The 20MP lens has also been blessed with a Sony IMX376 sensor, an aperture of f/2.0, and 5P lens. There’s even a Face Beauty Mode 6.0 to further enhance selfies by getting rid of blemishes. Unusually, Vivo has decided to bless the rear-facing snapper with a lower-resolution 13MP sensor equipped with PDAF and LED flash.

The V5 comes with a couple of useful features such as Hi-Fi audio courtesy an AK4376 chipset, Smart Split 2.0 and Eye Protection Mode. The second divides the screen in two if a message comes in while a video is playing. It currently supports apps like Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, and VLC. The third filters out blue light to reduce eye strain.
