Virgin Mobile USA Broadband2Go Internet service announced

Virgin Mobile USA has announced a 3G nationwide wireless Internet service dubbed Broadband2Go. Well, this Internet service does not entitle users to annual contracts, monthly subscriptions or activation fee.

Co-developed with Novatel Wireless and operating on the Sprint nationwide network, it uses the MC760 Broadband2Go that claims to be the smallest EV-DO Rev. A modem in the world.

“Forget the long-term contracts, monthly bills or desperately seeking a local coffee shop for Wi-Fi. Prepaid mobile broadband is ideal for students, families on the go, freelancers, anyone who needs wireless Internet access…and wants to pay only when they use it,” said Bob Stohrer, CMO, Virgin Mobile USA. “We’ve already demonstrated the benefit of no annual contracts and the ability to tailor spending to individual needs. Broadband2Go is another way to give consumers value, flexibility and convenience.”

The activation of the Broadband2Go My Account Portal ScreenShotLike mobile phone service is quite simple and users can add megabytes whenever needed using their credit/debit cards or with the Virgin Mobile Top-Up cards. Buy top up cards of data usage from 100MB to 1 gigabyte while its $20 Top-Up card can be used to purchase 250MB for 30 days which accounts to about 12 hours of web browsing.

The compact and durable Broadband2Go device comes integrated with a microSD slot. Its more than two inches in length and weighs less than an ounce. It works with laptops, tablet PCs or desktops that run on Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems along with a Type-A USB port. The MC760 also features a dual band diversity antenna.

The MC760 will be available through Best Buy Mobile later this month at $149.99.
