Virgin Mobile Kyocera Event price in US affordably tagged at $79.99

Kyocera Event

The Event by Kyocera is an Android smartphone that has hit availability status on Virgin Mobile in the US for a pocket-friendly price of $79.99. The handset aims to deliver a bang for ever buck spent by delivering rich features through means of the Ice Cream Sandwich platform.

The company doesn’t quite have a noticeable presence in the US, but the device is most likely to play well with the budget-minded, given that the manufacturer hasn’t held back in providing a decent list of components. Delivering visuals is a 3.5-inch HVGA IPS touchscreen which sits pretty on the front and while there’s no front facing camera, the rear is furnished with a 3.2MP snapper that tags along an LED flash for capturing images in dimly-lit conditions. The lens can also do video recording.

Front

The smartphone is 0.46 inches thick and it weighs roughly 4.1 ounces. On the memory front, users will have 4GB of ROM storage and a microSD card slot for expanding the overall capacity with 32GB more. 512MB of RAM and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU take charge to do all the heavy lifting. And complementing their hard work is 8.7 hours of talktime or 6.25 days of standby.

Unlike the budget-friendly Rise handset which has a slide out QWERTY keypad, the one in question possesses a virtual keyword which tags along Swype gesture support. With certification for Google Play being provided, users will not only have access to a wide range of games and applications, but also other services and rewards programs. The Mountain View giant’s Maps and Navigation tools are also included as default in addition to the company’s Eco Mode software that monitors battery consumption and helps conserve power.

Side

The Kyocera Event is already available for purchase in the US through Virgin Mobile dipped in black. The aforementioned sum is for a pre-paid subscription that puts the handset off contract. Potential buyers can opt for the Beyond Talk unlimited data and messaging plan which starts at $35 per month. For the red variant, customers will be able to pick it up through RadioShack starting March 3, 2013.
