Those in the US who prefer prepaid plans over billing ones, can soon give the once-over to the Apple smartphone, as the Virgin Mobile iPhone 4S and 4 will be made available without annual contracts through the Sprint Nationwide Network. Besides the official carrier website, the phones will be up for sale through RadioShack, Best Buy and authorized local retailers from June 29.
The iPhone 4S is powered by a dual core A5 chipset that bestows the device with fast multitasking properties and decent graphics. Its 8MP camera with advanced optics is capable of recording high definition 1080p videos, while the front-mounted imager facilitates video conferencing.
“This month marks Virgin Mobile USA’s tenth birthday. And what better way to thank our fans for ten years of loyalty than by giving them exactly what they want: the perfect plan for the perfect phone. That is the essence of ‘A Higher Calling,'” stated Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group.
The key highlight of the phone is Siri that acts as a personal assistant and understands natural conversation to carry out tasks like sending a text message, launching a web search, answering or making calls, and much more. Moreover, the handset powered by the iOS 5.1, extends support to iCloud as well, to access digital content via various Apple devices like the iPad, iPod, Mac or even PC.
The 16GB Virgin Mobile iPhone 4S price is tagged at $649, while the 8GB iPhone 4 will be up for grabs for $549 from June 29. These smartphones tag along discounted plans of $30, $40 or $50 per month. An additional $15 monthly scheme makes the phone a portable mobile hotspot.
