Virgin 4G WiMAX network to go live with HTC Evo V 4G, others

Every coin has 2 sides and on the flip side of LTE is its 4G WiMAX counterpart which Virgin Mobile plans on launching through the HTC Evo V 4G smartphone and other devices. Come May 31, the handset along with the Overdrive Pro 3G/4G mobile hotspot and the U600 3G/4G USB stick, will make its debut through the US-based wireless carrier.

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Evo V is coated with a layer of the HTC Sense 3.6 UI. It packs in a 5MP rear-facing camera that sports HD video and 3D imaging capabilities, as well as a 1.3MP front-facing snapper for live chatting. While 1GB of RAM and the 4GB of ROM come built-in, the smartphone supports up to 32GB additional memory through a microSD card slot.

Overdrive Pro U600 USB stick

The phone flaunts a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen and incorporates a 1,730mAh battery that’s capable of delivering up to 6 hours of talktime. Other features include HDMI and Bluetooth as well as mobile hotspot connectivity for sharing an internet connection with a total of 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices.

The HTC EVO V 4G release date is scheduled for May 31. The handset will be available for $299.99 through the carrier’s website, along with the Overdrive Pro 3G/4G mobile hotspot for $149.99 and the U600 3G/4G USB stick for $99.99. The unlimited data and messaging plans start at $35 per month.
