Vertu, the maker of luxury devices has announced the TI in India and has also disclosed that it would be priced a tad less than Rs. 6.5 lakhs. The phone being launched is the first from the manufacturer to come powered by the Android platform after being separated from Nokia and acquired by EQT back in June last year.
The Vertu TI has already gone on sale in the US and other locations for around $10,000 or €7,900. The handset is apparently handmade and it features premium materials for a luxurious design as well as experience. Built in England, the company asserts that a total of 184 parts have been put together to create this piece of hardware. And here’s the best part- It’s all done by a single craftsman.
The form factor adopted here is crafted from grade 5 titanium which delivers enhanced strength and high portability owing to its low-weight nature. The device measures 130.4mm x 58.9mm x 12.8mm and weighs from 180 to 201 grams depending on the variant selected. Fitted within the polished case is a sapphire crystal touchscreen that spans 3.7 inches wide and proffers WVGA (800 x 480p) resolution. Buyers will receive the aged Ice Cream Sandwich platform preloaded with the company’s own UI.
The hardware components employed aren’t entirely the latest in the market, although they are more than capable of delivering a rich experience. A dual core 1.7GHz S4 processor is thrown in with 1GB of RAM for smooth operations, while storage is taken care of by 64GB of built-in memory. For snap-happy users, an 8MP AF camera with LED flash can be found on the rear touting 1080p video capture.
The luxury experience isn’t only limited to the design. The smartphone also features 11mm x 15mm rectangular audio drivers that are created through collaboration with Bang & Olufsen. They are built into the chassis with an aim to deliver high quality output through the stereo speakers.
The Vertu TI is expected to be available in India for a price of Rs. 6,49,990. Potential buyers will be able to locate retail stores that are selling the luxury smartphone through the company’s website.
