Verizon’s Droid Turbo set to receive its Android 5.1 treat on June 10

Looks like Verizon and Motorola are finally ready to dole out the long awaited Lollipop update for the Droid Turbo smartphone in the US. June 10 will apparently be the date on which the download will be made available to owners of the ultra-powerful handset.

It was announced by Motorola back in March this year that this particular device will be skipping the Android 5.0 release and will jump directly to the 5.1 build. While this was appreciated by fans a great deal, the fact that the upgrade still hasn’t arrived on their Droid Turbo smartphones has certainly not gone down well with them.

But their sorrows will finally be vanishing come June 10. Although, we haven’t heard about this date officially, Android Police’s David Ruddock who’s quite a reliable source for such rumors has revealed it through a tweet of his. He has moreover also disclosed what the build will be named – 23.11.33.quark_verizon.verizon.en.US.

Droid Turbo

The Droid Turbo smartphone was first launched back in October last year, and has been running Android 4.4 KitKat ever since. It does however, kick in all the unique software traits that are found on the Moto X. But the major highlight of this phone is definitely its 3900mAh battery which promises a whopping 48 hours of usage on a single complete charge.

A sharp look at the main specs of the Droid Turbo:

– Display: 5.2-inch, QHD 1440 x 2560 pixels (565ppi)
– OS: Android 4.4 KitKat (Upgradable to Android 5.1 Lollipop)
– Processor: 2.7GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805
– GPU: Adreno 420
– Memory: 3GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage options (non-expandable)
– Battery: 3900mAh
– Camera: 2MP front, 21MP rear

June 10 is when owners of the Verizon Droid Turbo should start checking their devices for notifications about the Android 5.1 Lollipop download. We’re guessing that the respective updates for the Moto Maxx and the Moto Turbo will be arriving shortly thereafter.
