Pre-orders for the HTC Windows Phone 8X have commenced through Verizon along with bookings for the Nokia Lumia 822 smartphone as well. Shipment for both devices are expected to commence by Thanksgiving.

The Windows Phone 8X is dressed with a uni-body form factor which measures 0.40 in thickness. Resting on the front is a 4.3-inch 720p HD Super LCD2 touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for enhanced durability. The handset is powered by a dual core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of DDR2 RAM. Users will have 16GB of internal storage for hoarding content. The overall battery life derivable on a single charge amounts to 15 hours of talktime or 12.5 days of standby.

Users will be able to browse the web, check emails, access social networking services and download content online through the carrier’s 4G LTE data service. The device will arrive bundled with a host of Verizon-specific applications including VZ Navigator for turn-by-turn navigation and maps access, and Backup Assistant Plus for conveniently saving contacts and important apps, amongst others. What’s interesting is that the black and red variant along with the device’s built–in wireless charging capability are said to be exclusive to Verizon customers only.

The handset is also scheduled to launch through AT&T this Thanksgiving, while the T-Mobile variant will hit stores on November 14, a day after Verizon’s version goes on sale. The former carrier is offering the smartphone in both 8GB and 16GB storage options. The device is already up for grabs in the UK through Amazon, while potential buyers in Canada can expect it to launch on the 15th of this month.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X will be available through Verizon for $199.99 with a 2-year contract. The device can also be picked up with a month to month service for $549.99 which is the full retail price. According to the device’s product page, the black and blue versions will start to ship from November 13, while the red option’s release date is pinned for November 21, 2012.
