U.S. Cellular Motorola Electrify M getting Jelly Bean update next week

Motorola Electrify M

Here’s some good news for Motorola Electrify M owners as U.S. Cellular has revealed that a Jelly Bean update is inbound and will become available next week. The phone was launched via the carrier in November last year with a toughened exterior that can withstand scrapes and scratches.

When it’s ready, the OTA update for the Electrify M will be pushed to users automatically. They will receive an on-device notification for the same which can be downloaded via Wi-Fi, eliminating the need to connect the handset to a PC through USB.

Front

Of all the attractive features that the new OS brings, Google Now is probably the most eye-catching. It will deliver updates on weather, sports scores and traffic conditions so that users can plan a travel route to minimize inconvenience and stay up to date on all sporting activity. There will also be Google Voice Search, with which users will be granted access to query results by speaking into their device.

A few other noticeable changes wriggle their way onto handsets. The notifications menu will be the new hub which will channel the ability to reply to texts and calls. The interface will no doubt have a more lucid feel, while camera improvements are added, as are enhancements to the calendar and widgets.

Back

The phone itself gives owners viewing possibilities on a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, and tags along an 8MP primary camera with LED flash and auto focus, a 1.5GHz dual core processor and 8GB of internal storage. 4G connectivity is always a plus, and the 2000mAh battery should be able to provide power for up to 20 hours of mixed usage.

The Jelly Bean update for the Motorola Electrify M will be available to handset owners on U.S. Cellular starting on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. To get it, owners will simply have to navigate to ‘System Updates’ and follow the on-screen prompts.
