We’ve managed to round up several upcoming Android phones that are scheduled to make their debut sooner or later. A couple of devices in today’s roster come straight from the rumor mill, giving you a brief insight of what you can expect from future handsets running on Google’s mobile platform. And the best part here is that they all run on the ICS platform to deliver rich experiences. Read on to know more.
1. HTC One X+:
The HTC One X has created quite a splash with its quad core goodness around the globe. However, you probably know that the US variant comes with a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. That’s mainly because the former Nvidia SOC isn’t capable of delivering 4G LTE connectivity. Well, that might just change as HTC seems to have plans of bringing in a quad core version after all, dubbed the One X+. The plus is rumored to represent the Tegra 3+ SOC which packs in 4G LTE support apart from better performance and a higher clock rate. To make things clear, the handset is expected to arrive carrying the new processor through T-Mobile with the rest of the specifications being similar to those of its current variant.
2. Sony Xperia advance:
Next in our Android phones roundup is a slim handset touting extra durability. Carrying the Xperia advance moniker for the US, the handset is even called the Xperia go. According to Sony, this piece of hardware can handle everything life dishes at it. And to honor that, they’ve dressed the little slugger in a robust form factor comprising of a scratch-resistant display along with a water- and dust-resistant design.
The goodies don’t stop just yet – Moving to the innards, you’d find a dual core processor and 512MB of RAM, while a 5MP camera sits on the rear with a 3.5-inch touchscreen rocking the ICS platform on the front.
3. Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE:
The Photon Q 4G LTE has earned its spot not only as one of the impending handsets to run on Google’s mobile platform, but it’s also amongst the few QWERTY handsets carrying a 4.3-inch display. The one employed here is powered by ColorBoost technology proffering qHD resolutions of 960 × 540 pixels. The ICS platform runs the show here, with a 1.5GHz dual core processor doing the heavy lifting. This Sprint-bound device also tags along a rear-facing 8MP camera with 1080p FHD video capture, 4G LTE connectivity and world phone capabilities.
4. Blu Products Vivo 4.3:
Compared to the other in today’s Android phones compilation, the Blu Products Vivo 4.3 handset is one of a kind. Here’s why – Not only does it flaunt a stylish form factor with a button-less front panel, but also dual SIM support backed by the goodness of a dual core processor clocking in frequencies of 1GHz. Along with GSM and CDMA network support, you’ll have 4GB of built-in storage, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display for visuals and an 8MP camera for capturing HD footage. You should also be happy to know that the handset has a retail price of $249.99 sans any contract commitment. If these specs appear compelling enough for you to grab one, you’re not that far from tasting the ICS experience on offer. September 2012 is when the official launch is pegged for the US, Latin America and Asia.
5. T-Mobile Galaxy Note:
The T-Mobile Galaxy Note has been under heavy speculation over the past months, and it’s finally going to make its debut in a couple of days. A phone cum tablet is what they’re calling it. And why wouldn’t they? Just look at the size of the thing. Measuring 5.78 x 3.26 x 0.37 inches in dimensions, a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display sits pretty on the front, while an 8MP snapper is affixed to the rear.
The innards comprise of a 1.5GHz dual core processor that’s coupled with 1GB of RAM for a smooth ICS experience, 16GB of storage capacity and 4G network support. Last but not the least is the S Pen, a stylus that aims to enhance productivity on the go through a host of features.
6. Samsung Galaxy Note II:
The Samsung Galaxy Note II is amongst the highly anticipated Android phones for the second half of 2012. And by the end on the month, you’re most likely to see the device in action as it’s speculated to arrive at the IFA expo in Berlin. Compared to its predecessor, the new smartphone-tablet combo device from the South Korean manufacturer could arrive with a slimmer and more compact form factor. On the inside, chances are high that the same Exynos 4412 processor used in the Galaxy S3 will find a spot here with clock speeds of 1.6GHz. Tagging along with the CPU is a Mali-400 graphics unit that’s apparently at par with the Adreno 320 GPU. The last of the known specs are a 5.5-inch HD display and an 8MP primary camera.
7. Verizon LG Spectrum 2:
Similar to the Note II, the Spectrum 2 handset for Verizon is still under the rumor spotlight. And guess what? It could just be a modified version of the Optimus LTE II which went live in Korea back in May. However, the latter variant made its debut with 2GB of RAM, not 1GB which is speculated for the new Spectrum. Considering that manufacturers tend to modify their devices a bit for the US, an LTE II handset with 1GB of RAM is feasible. What’s more, most specifications appear to be the same for both devices. A 4.7-inch True HD IPS display caters to visuals, with a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor deployed for handling the workload. Also on the list are 16GB of built-in storage, an 8MP primary camera and NFC support, while the ICS OS runs the show.
Conclusion:
And that’s a wrap on our roundup of upcoming Android phones. Some of the aforementioned handsets are scheduled to hit availability status in a few days, while a few others might arrive in stores over the coming weeks or months. For the rumored few, we aren’t quite sure about possible release dates. But once they’re out, you can be sure we’ll have them up in a jiffy.
