Unlocked HTC One price out in the open, up for purchase in US

HTC has put its flagship One smartphone up for grabs through its own online store and following the recent announcements from various US providers, an unlocked version is also being offered for a $574.99 price. Additionally, the carrier-locked option as well as the Developer Edition can be ordered from the website itself.

A post on Phone Arena highlights that there are various perks in purchasing the Unlocked HTC One through the company. Firstly, buyers get 1-year limited warranty followed by quick shipping which usually takes 24 hours. Then there’s tax saving as well, albeit those residing in California and Texas aren’t covered by this advantage. What’s worth mentioning is that the SIM-free version isn’t the same as the developer-oriented choice.

Both units aren’t tied to any lengthy carrier commitment. However, only the latter proffers an unlocked bootloader which allows users to install custom ROMs and tweak the OS to a great extent. The former has lesser integrated storage as well, amounting to 32GB. Earlier today, we came across the stealth black variant of the device which is destined for Sprint and AT&T. Well, there’s no sign of it on the company’s online store, so we’re going to have to wait a bit longer for it to hit availability status.

The device houses the latest processor from Qualcomm and it competes against the Galaxy S4. The Taiwanese manufacturer has equipped it with a 1080p FHD display, an UltraPixel camera and a host of features which deliver a rich Android as well as entertainment experience. On a single charge of the 2300mAh Li-polymer battery, the company estimates that the device will be able to deliver up to 18 hours of talktime or 500 hours of standby over a WCDMA network.
