It’s hard to believe Twitter has been in operation since just 10 years; it seems like the micro-blogging website has been available since way before that. On its 10th birthday, its makers have decided to celebrate its users and thank them for their support.

This service was started by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Noah Glass and Biz Stone on March 21, 2006, and has now grown into something that boasts of more than 332 million active users. A video depicting major events that were immortalized by Twitter has been released by the company, and can be spotted in the space down below.

Twitter allows all its users to make an account and post anything as long as it’s limited to 140 characters. You can follow people to view their tweets and they can do the same to view yours. Over the years, this micro-blogging entity has grown so much that it’s being used as a major marketing tool by corporations as well.

Aside from that, it is also employed by thousands of celebrities to stay in touch with their fans. Due to Twitter these people have come closer to their fans like never before, as they can directly interact with them easily.

The results of this website are real-time, and this helps create major conversations during events like football matches or even disasters like floods and earthquakes. Everything on Twitter is public, but it also has a Direct Message functionality which lets you keep certain conversations private.
