In addition to the Series 5 and Series 7 tablet-laptop hybrids, the South Korean manufacturer has also announced the touchscreen version of the Samsung Series 5 Ultra laptop. It forms a part of the clan which features multiple laptops by various companies that have been revamped with a multi-touch display.
The notebook in question comes in a screen configuration of 13 inches and should allow users to navigate smoothly through the UI. It takes advantage of the 300 nits Samsung SuperBright technology and renders clear visuals in 1366 x 768p resolution. Needless to say, the device will now extend support to the latest operating system from Microsoft.
“With the introduction of our new Slate PCs, we are providing customers with greater choice while maintaining the power of a traditional PC,” commented Todd Bouman, vice president of marketing at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “We created our Slate PCs with a focus on beautiful design, powerful performance and ease of use, attributes that our customers have come to expect in their Samsung computing experience.”
“Our mobile PC business has grown significantly over the past year, which is a testament to our ability to meet customer needs in this space, and we expect strong growth to continue with our new Slate PCs,” Bouman added.
This clamshell device, complete with a physical keyboard, gains steam from the third generation Intel Core i3 or i5 processors and 4GB system memory. It can be integrated with a hard drive of 500GB capacity featuring 24GB ExpressCache to cut down on the time taken by the portable computer to boot up.
The touchscreen Samsung Series 5 Ultra price and release date stand at $799 and October 26, respectively.
