The Toshiba WT310 has gone official for the UK with an aim to deliver high portability combined with performance driven hardware to business customers on the move. The table is accompanied by a digitized pen and it runs on the latest from Microsoft, the Windows 8 Pro operating system which brings forth a touch-friendly UI and a desktop environment.
The device carries the same name which the company previous used for a Windows 7 tablet based on the Oak Trail Atom Z670 SOC, back in 2011. The one in question is equipped with the latest Intel Core processors. Since the fourth generation is yet to be launched, we suspect that the slate will run on an Ivy Bridge CPU. What’s more, the company states that it will be Ultrabook class, which could lead to better power efficiency.
Visuals are delivered through an 11.6-inch full HD screen that proffers an anti-glare coating for better viewing. Being touch-enabled, users will be able to navigate through the Windows 8 UI with ease and even carry out gesture commands. With the included digitizer pen, handwritten notes can be converted into editable text. The company has bundled the tablet with a host of business tools. They include the Anti-Theft software package and Active Management technology from Intel as well as Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
The device features SSD storage for quick startups and application response. It has a weight of 825 grams which will increase based on configuration. For enhanced connectivity options, the company is offering an optional docking cradle that tags along a USB 3.0 port, an additional HDMI socket, an SD card reader and Gigabit LAN.
The Toshiba WT310 has been announced for the UK, but there’s no sign of a price as yet. Potential buyers can expect it to sell for a hefty amount considering that it packs in high-end components and business oriented features. The tablet is expected to go on sale from Q2 2013.
