India-based cross-platform media and entertainment company Times Internet Limited (part of The Times Group) (TIL) has entered into an alliance with Hovr, an ad-supported mobile gaming service. This tie-up will give way to GameZone, India’s pioneering mobile gaming portal, which intends to offer a number of enjoyable and engrossing mobile games absolutely free of cost. TIL’s partnership with Hovr is to essentially shift the entire mobile gaming standard in the Indian marketplace by bringing users free mobile games with a business model that depends on mobile advertising.
This association will enable any and every mobile user around the country to download and play multi-player mobile games from Hovr’s wide range of gaming titles.
Dinesh Wadhawan, CEO and MD of TIL said, “Based on the sheer number of mobile subscribers and consumer interest in ad-supported mobile content, we believe that mobile marketing is poised to overtake online marketing in India within the next few years.” Adding, “TIL was looking for a partner with a powerful and compelling offering to revolutionize the mobile gaming industry in India, and we found that partner in Hovr. Hovr brings a deep understanding of the Indian market, along with strong, carrier-grade technology, an attractive catalogue of mobile games and a powerful mobile advertising platform.”
A beta version of GameZone was rolled out in December 2007, which apparently drew immense attention from users and interest from advertisers and carriers. TIL will offer wide reach to market and distribute the GameZone offering, and will work alongside Hovr to jointly sell mobile advertisements in India.
Speaking about the partnership, Deepak Gupta, VP of Business Development at Hovr said, “Partnering with the most innovative mobile and entertainment company in India furthers Hovr’s goal of leveraging our white-label, ad-supported mobile gaming solution to drive the mass market adoption of mobile gaming in one of the largest and fastest growing mobile markets in the world.”
GameZone is making use of Powered by Hovr, the mobile media company’s white-label mobile gaming offering through which online and mobile portals, communities and distributors along with mobile operators can offer their consumers direct access to hundreds of free mobile games, all under their own brand. In addition, the Powered by Hovr white label service offers online and mobile social community features brands can control to maintain, extend and strengthen their brand in a powerful and attractive manner.
So are you ready to challenge your friends in multi-player games, compete for high scores and meet and interact with other gamers with the all-new free mobile games offered by TIL and Hovr?
